Real Sail Onyx Work
Real Mercury work and photographs from Sail Onyx. Each repair starts with the actual symptoms and findings on that engine; the scope can vary by model, condition and installation.
A Mercury would idle normally but lose power as throttle was applied. We worked through the fuel-delivery side and pressure-tested the system to isolate the restriction or failing component before making repairs.
Request similar service →Weak water flow and overheating need to be addressed before additional engine damage develops. On this type of job we inspect the water pump, impeller and cooling passages, remove debris where present and verify cooling-system operation after the repair.
Request similar service →Milky gear oil, grinding or impact damage can indicate water intrusion or internal gearcase damage. We inspect the lower unit, identify the failed seals or components, complete the approved repair and pressure/vacuum test the gearcase before it goes back into service.
Request similar service →After an underwater impact, we check more than the propeller. The prop shaft, seals, gearcase and lubricant all need to be inspected for damage or water intrusion before the boat is returned to service.
Request similar service →Not every Mercury problem starts at the powerhead. Displayed warnings, communication faults, joystick or control issues can involve the helm, network, rigging and engine together, so we diagnose the system as a whole.
Request similar service →Starting and running complaints can come from several points in the fuel system. Pressure testing and inspection help separate a pump, filter, line, VST or injector problem before parts are replaced.
Request similar service →Twin, triple and quad installations require a different service plan than a single outboard. We document engine hours and history individually, identify what is due and separate scheduled maintenance from any engine-specific findings.

Common Questions
Sail Onyx serves Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties and Key Largo. Mobile or dockside availability depends on vessel location, marina or yard access, equipment type and the work required. Some lower-unit, lifting and major repair work requires suitable dry access or a yard; access and any related charges are confirmed before booking.
Include the engine model, engine count, serial-number or nameplate photos, engine hours, displayed alarms or fault codes, symptoms and recent maintenance records. Send what you know; identification photos and vessel details are optional. For multiple outboards, identify which engine has the concern.
Requests may include no-start, hard starting, overheating, Guardian or power-reduction complaints, rough running, power loss, fuel-pressure concerns, charging, ignition, lower-unit, trim, tilt, steering, SmartCraft/displayed warnings, sensors and control concerns. The correct scope is confirmed after reviewing the equipment and symptoms. A warning code alone does not establish which component needs replacement.
The scope follows the correct model-specific schedule, elapsed time, engine hours and prior records. Applicable fluids, filters, plugs, lubrication, cooling and gearcase items are listed in the estimate. Not every engine needs the same parts at the same interval. The 300-hour service shown in our project gallery describes that particular Verado V8 job, not a universal package.
Yes. Inspection findings can support a practical next-step discussion. Parts availability, installation compatibility, controls, vessel access and any manufacturer or warranty requirements are confirmed before the scope is approved.
